Google Search Console

Connect a Search Console property to a monitor, sync daily metrics, and correlate crawl changes with search movement.

On this page

Connect a property

  1. Open Settings → Search Console.
  2. Click Connect Google account and approve read-only access.
  3. Choose the GSC property that matches your monitor’s site key (domain or URL-prefix).

One connection per monitor. Organization members with site access can view synced metrics on the dashboard.

Sync schedule and reporting lag

Signal Diff pulls site totals, page metrics, and (for top-traffic pages) query×page rows on a nightly sync. Google Search Console data is typically 2–3 days behind real time — recent days may change as Google finalizes numbers.

Deploy-window comparisons offset the post-change window by this lag so pre/post periods compare reliable GSC days.

Traffic movers and deploy windows

The dashboard ranks pages with meaningful click or impression movement and overlaps them with recent crawl diffs (title, meta, canonical, status, and similar checks). Click a crawl run marker on the Search Console chart to shade 7-day pre and 7-day post windows around that deploy.

Insights are correlation hints — not proof that a crawl change caused a ranking or CTR shift.

Ask about traffic

On the site monitor dashboard, use Ask about traffic to pick a suggested question (for example, why clicks dropped or which title changes overlapped CTR gains). Answers are built from Search Console period totals and traffic movers — not an open-ended chatbot.

  • Each claim links to evidence: the Search Console chart, a traffic mover row, or the crawl deploy diff.
  • Answers describe correlation only; algorithm updates, seasonality, and competitors are not isolated.
  • No LLM is used in v1 — responses are fixed templates over structured facts.

Paid, rate-limited LLM narration may be added later; it will not ship without billing and cost controls.

Query drill-down

For traffic movers with crawl overlap, expand Top queries to see which search terms gained or lost clicks in the deploy window (for example, branded queries after a title change on /pricing).

Query sync prioritizes the top pages by impressions (quota-aware) so typical sites complete within the nightly sync window.

Correlation limits

  • Algorithm updates, seasonality, and competitors are not isolated.
  • Low-impression pages and queries are filtered to reduce noise.
  • Canonical/redirect transfers are suggested when paired paths move in opposite directions — verify in your analytics.

Privacy

Search queries are stored in your organization’s Cosmos partition to power drill-down. They are visible to members with access to the linked monitor. Disconnect Search Console in Settings to stop future syncs; contact support if you need historical query data removed.
